Description

Anastrozole belongs to the group of cancer-fighting medicines known as nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitors. It fights breast cancer by inactivating an enzyme known as aromatase.

How to use

It is important to use this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Side Effects

General side effects may include:
abdominal pain
back pain
bone pain
constipation
cough
diarrhea
dizziness
dry mouth
fainting
flu-like symptoms
flushing
headache
hot flashes
increased or decreased appetite
muscle stiffness
nausea or vomiting
skin rash
sore throat
trouble sleeping
weakness
weight gain

Contact your doctor immediately if any of these sever side effects occur:
depression
pelvic pain
mood changes
swelling of the feet, legs, or arms
unusual vaginal discharge, itching, or bleeding
chest pain
signs of a serious allergic reaction: swelling of the face and/or throat, hives, or difficulty breathing
signs of a blood clot in the leg: leg swelling, cramping, or discolouration
signs of a blood clot in the lungs: difficulty breathing, coughing up blood, chest pain or heart palpitations (unusual heartbeat with feeling of pounding or fluttering in chest), anxiety or sweating
signs of a severe skin reaction: high fever; rash, sores, or painful blisters on the skin, in the mouth, or eyes; or skin peeling off
Drug Interaction

Medications containing estrogen may affect how anastrozole works. If you are taking any of these medications, speak with your doctor or pharmacist.
Tell your doctor or prescriber about all prescription, over-the-counter (non-prescription), and herbal medications that you are taking. Also tell them about any supplements you take. Since caffeine, decongestants, alcohol, the nicotine from cigarettes, or street drugs can affect the action of many medications, you should let your prescriber know if you use them.
Over Dose

If you have taken more than your normal dose, contact your doctor or nearest hospital immediately.
Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of this medicine, do not take the missed dose at all and do not double the next one. Go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Uses

Anastrozole is used to treat certain types of breast cancer (advanced breast cancer and early hormone-receptor-positive breast cancer) in women who are past menopause.

Storage

You should keep your tablets in the package they came in and store them at room temperature in a dry place. Keep it out of the reach of children.

Precaution

Anastrozole should not be used by anyone who is:
allergic to any of the ingredients
breast-feeding
pregnant
pre-menopausal
Consult your doctor if you have Osteoporosis or have any Kidnet or Liver problems.
