Antiglaucoma agent, ophthalmic

The usual dose is 1 drop in the affected eye twice a day.
If you are using other eyedrops or ointments, allow at least 10 minutes between doses of each product.

Side effects may include:
Altered taste, blurred vision, burning or stinging eyes, inflamed cornea, itching eyes, red eyelids

Check with your doctor before combining this medication with the following:

Certain water pills (diuretics) such as Daranide
Clonidine (Catapres)
Digitalis (Lanoxin)
Drugs classified as beta blockers, such as the high blood pressure medications Inderal, Sectral, and Tenormin
Drugs classified as calcium channel blockers, such as the heart medications Cardizem, Norvasc, and Procardia
Epinephrine (EpiPen)
Quinidine (Quinaglute, Quinidex)
Reserpine
Salicylate medications such as Disalcid and aspirin

Symptoms of overdose may include:
Dizziness, headache, shortness of breath, slow heartbeat, severe asthma, cardiac arrest
Please call emergency services, or contact your doctor immediately.

Although it often causes no symptoms at first, high pressure in the eye will eventually damage the optic nerve and lead to blindness. It's therefore important to keep using this medicine if prescribed by your doctor, even if your eyes seem fine.

Take the forgotten dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and return to your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at once.

This medication lowers high pressure in the eye, a problem typically caused by the condition known as open-angle glaucoma. It works by reducing production of the liquid that fills the eyeball.

Store at room temperature. Protect from light.

You should not take this medication if you've ever had asthma, suffer from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or have heart failure or certain types of rhythm problems. The drug cannot be used if you are suffering from shock.
