Precaution
•Inform the veterinary doctor if your pet has a liver or kidney problem.
•It is recommended that this drug should not be given to pregnant or nursing animals, particularly in the initial months of pregnancy when the fetus is developing, as the tetracycline group of antibiotics are capable of retarding the skeletal structure of the fetus, and may cause yellowing of teeth in the unborn pup or kitten. It can be given in the latter half, if the vet considers this to be safe.
•Caution has to be used when giving this medicine to small animals.
•The tablet formulation has been found, at times, to cause injury to the esophagus in cats.
•As the Tetracycline group of antibiotics discolor deciduous teeth, puppies or kittens are usually not given Doxycyline.
•Usage of expired Doxycycline can seriously impair the kidneys of your pet, so safely discard the medicine when it is no longer required.
•Take care that your pet is not exposed to sunlight as this drug may make it more sensitive to sunlight or strong lights, and give it a sunburned skin.
