WARNING: GEFITINIB CAN CAUSE (RARELY) SERIOUS (POSSIBLY FATAL) LIVER DISEASE. Inform your doctor immediately if you notice any signs of liver damage like yellowing of eyes and skin, dark urine, extreme fatigue.

Generic Gefitinib is a drug which is used in the treatment of certain types of cancer. It interferes with the growth and spread of new cancer cells. Gefitnib is an antitumor medication rather than a cytotoxic (cell killing) drug. It is part of the class of cancer drugs known as tyrosine kinase inhibitors.

Use only as prescribed by your oncologist.

This medication can cause a very serious lung condition leading to inflammation within the lung. Please contact your doctor immediately if you develop a worsening cough, fever or difficulty in breathing.
Please contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following:
symptoms of eye infection
nausea
loss of apetite
persistent diarrhea
vomiting
dizziness

Gefitinib increases the blood thinning properties of Warfarin, so please confirm with your doctor if you are on Warfarin.
Gefitinib interacts adversely with:
ketoconazole
itraconazole
fluconazole
erythromycin,
clarithromycin
ritonavir
nelfinavir
indinavir
nefazodone

If an overdose is suspected call emergency services immediately.

Please do not drink grapefruit juice while using this medication.
Gefitinib should not be used duirng pregnancy.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is less than twelve hours till your next dose, skip the missed dose and go on with your regular schedule. Never double a dose to make up for the missed one.

Gefitinib is used alone (monotherapy) for the treatment of a certain type of lung cancer that has not responded to chemotherapy.

Store at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
