Take misoprostol tablets by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Swallow the tablets with a drink of water. Take your doses at regular intervals; this medication is usually taken with meals and at bedtime with food. Taking this medication with food reduces the chance of diarrhea or stomach upset. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.

SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, gas, headache, vomiting, and constipation. If they continue and are bothersome, check with your doctor. If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include sleepiness, tremors, seizures, difficulty breathing, stomach pain, diarrhea, fever, and slow heart rate.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
