Ethambutol is classified as an anti bacterial agent.

This works best when taken with food or milk to prevent stomach upset. Take as directed. Do not stop taking this medication without your doctor's approval. Stopping therapy too early may result in ineffective treatment. Treatment usually lasts for several months.

joint aches/pain/swelling
numbness/tingling pain in the hands or feet
skin rash
sore throat
swelling of the face/lips/tongue
trouble passing urine
unusually weak/tired feeling

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

If you suspect an overdose call the emergency department or your doctor immediately.

If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Ethambutol is used to treat tuberculosis, often in combination with other medications. Tuberculosis is a very serious infection and requires a combination of antibiotics to cure the infection.

Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom.
