Chlorzoxazone (Paraflex)is used to relieve pain and stiffness caused by muscle strains and sprains. It is also used in combination with physical therapy and analgesics medications such as aspirin or acetaminophen and rest. Paraflex may be prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Chlorzoxazone comes in form of a tablet to take by mouth. It usually is taken three or four times a day. Take Chlorzoxazone exactly as directed. You need to understand and follow the directions on your prescription label carefully and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Do not make changes in dose or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.

Before taking Paraflex, make sure that you are not allergic to Paraflex or any other drug. Then, inform your doctor about following conditions?

If you are taking any prescription and non-prescription medications, especially sedatives, sleeping pills, tranquilizers, and vitamins

If you have or have ever had liver disease

Also, inform your doctor if you become pregnant while taking Paraflex.

Paraflex may make you drowsy and add to the drowsiness caused by other medicines or alcohol. Hence, do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you. Speak to your doctor if you take alcoholic beverages.

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911

You need to keep all appointments with your doctor. Continue your normal diet, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Take care to see that no one should take your medication. Always consult your pharmacist if you have any questions about refilling your prescription.

If you have missed a dose recently, take as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose then skip the missed dose. It is important that continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Paraflex should be stored at room temperature. It should be kept away from excess heat and moisture. Hence, should not be stored in the bathroom. Paraflex should be kept in the container it came in only. The container should be kept tightly closed and out of reach of children. If the medicine become outdated or you are no longer taking it then you need to discard it safely. Consult your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.

Before taking chlorzoxazone,

tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to chlorzoxazone or any other drugs.
tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, especially sedatives, sleeping pills, tranquilizers, and vitamins.
tell your doctor if you have or have ever had liver disease.
tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking chlorzoxazone, call your doctor.
