Tinidazole is in a class of medications called antiprotozoal agents. It works by killing the organisms that can cause infection.

Take tinidazole exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Take tinidazole until you finish the prescription. If you stop taking tinidazole too soon, your infection may not be completely cured and bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics

Possible side effects include:
•sharp, unpleasant metallic taste
•upset stomach
•vomiting
•loss of appetite
•constipation
•stomach pain or cramps
•headache
•tiredness or weakness
•dizziness
If you experience any of the following side effects, please call your doctor immediately:
•seizures
•numbness or tingling of hands or feet
•rash
•hives
•swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
•hoarseness
•difficulty swallowing or breathing

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to tinidazole, metronidazole (Flagyl), or any other medications.
Tinidazole can react adversely with:
alcohol(alcohol containing beverages/medicines)
amprenavir
barbiturate medicines(for sleep/treating seizures)
cimetidine
carbamazepine
disulfiram
fluorouracil
lithium
phenytoin
sirolimus
tacrolimus
warfarin

In case of overdose, call your local poison control center. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services.

Talk to your doctor about drinking grapefruit juice while taking this medication.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Tinidazole is used to treat trichomoniasis, giardiasis, and amebiasis.

Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture. Protect the medication from light.
